Ever since Ryan and I went to the Houston Rodeo back in March with our friends Joe and Jessica, I've been a bit more keen on country music. I grew up listening to mostly country music - you know, Waylon, Willie and the boys - so it will always be a part of me. However, moving into high school and beyond I was less and less interested in country music. It became a genre that I didn't mind, but it wasn't my first choice. Anyhow, the headline performer at the Rodeo that night in March was Keith Urban. I didn't know much about him other than he was married to fellow Aussie Nicole Kidman - I wasn't even vaguely familiar with his music. Well, I was very impressed with him as a musician and a performer. He put on a great, lively show - but what I really appreciated was that his performance was truly about the music and not about him. He is incredible on the guitar (love that!).
We had the Ellen Show on TV this afternoon (apparently it was a re-run) and he was the guest performer. Check out some of the guitar solos... awesome. Another great song that showcases his talent is "Stupid Boy".
(Note: I don't claim to know all the lyrics or even why these songs were written. I just enjoy their sound with the acoustic guitar...)
Are you guys on Pinterest? About half of the folks (ladies) who read this are, I think, and WHY DIDN'T ANYONE SAY HOW ADDICTIVE IT IS!?!?! So many wonderful ideas, beautiful creations, and reasons why my wish list and craft idea stash is growing a mile a minute. I like that I can "pin" something - such as a recipe or craft/photo idea - and have all my inspirations and things I like in the same place. There's nothing like going "Geez, I know I saw that recipe on some website, but I can't remember where it was!" Now, I know exactly how to find it again!
The older two boys have been in swim lessons all week, with one week left to go. They're doing pretty good, but I'm still waiting on that "breakthrough point" to occur. We've got years of summers ahead of us that will involve pools or water features of some sort, so I want them to know how to be safe in the water and confident of their skills. Caleb's class is allowed to wear goggles, so this week after purchasing some that actually fit him well this is how he looked at lunchtime...
